The original Courthouse was built in 1848, the second in 1863 and the present one between 1895 and 1890. The Italianate style building features a central portico with symmetrical sidewings, marble Corinthian columns and a stuccoed pediment with the British coat of arms.
The front of the buildings has three different dates, 1884 on the coat of arms, 1887 on the pediment and 1888 on the gate post due to delays in the construction
