Isle of Man Bank can be found on the corner of Athol Street and Prospect Hill in Douglas.

The building is the purpose built head office of the bank and opened on 9 June 1902.

The buiding was designed by Dr Alexander Marshall Mackenzien (1848 - 1933) of Aberdeen. Mackenzie's design has been described as "restrained Edwardian Baroque" and constructed from pale scottish granite.

Dr Alexander's son Alexander George Robertson Mackenzie was article to his father and studied interior design in Paris under Rene Sargent. There are elements of the bow front turning the corner which suggest they have been influenced by Sargent.

The broken pediment above the entrance porfolio is described by Patricia Tutt as follows:
"The grand Edwardian Baroque entrance portico is surmounted by a pediment insert with a shell medallion which refers to the ancient arms of the Kings of Man, featuring a Viking longboat."

The buildings elevations on both Athol Street and Prospect Hill have smooth plinths with cushioned bases, these are capped by a motif of overlapping discs in the first string course.

At the string course at base of the first floor windows is a scroll motif with a smooth drip moulding and broken segmental pediments above the first floor windows which have abstract central features with abstract shapes clapsing a pink Corrennie granite ball.

Corrennie granite is salmon pink granite which originate from a quarry in Aberdeenshire in Scotland. (visit link)

The second floor windows of the building are both plainer and small than those of the lower floors. The piers at this level have undecorated medallions set on their faces and a line of swagged garlands beneath the projecting parapet.
