The Praia dos Pescadores, Fisherman's Beach, is Albufeira's main beach and the most popular destination for sun-seeking tourists. The promenade at this point is at the southern end of Rua de 5 Outubro, through the tunnel under the hotel Sol e Mar. It has fantastic views along the beach, ramps and steps down onto the beach and some nice, but expensive, eateries.
This pay-per-view monocular is towards the eastern end of the prom near the top of a ramp down to the beach and is set up to look seawards, two time periods are available to purchase, 2min for 50cents and 1Euro for 4mins.
Set into the sea wall at this point is a plaque made of twelve portuguese Azulejo tiles telling the story of Albufeira in Portuguese and English:-

Albufeira was conquered from the Moors during
the reign of D.Alfonso III and was placed under
military authority by avis. D.Manuel I granted
independant rule in 1504. Albufeira remained as
an active fishing village during centuries.
In 1986 it was promoted to a town, and is today an
important tourist centre.
