Du latin "boccaria" : boucherie, la grande place du marché, lieu de négoce du bétail, donnait accès à la cité. Cette partie de la ville était juridiction du prince-évêque.

Au centre de la place, une fontaine rénovée avec une colonne surmontée de le République, "la Mourre", oeuvre d'un sculpteur local Auguste Mourre 1882

Cette fontaine est constituée d'un bassin rond duquel s'élève un obélisque dont le chapiteau supporte une statue qui pourrait être une allégorie de la République. Elle porte le bonnet phrygien, le glaive de la justice, et la flamme de la liberté. Afin d'économiser l'eau précieuse en cette contrée, des robinets à poussoirs ont été installés à chacune des quatre bornes disposées sur le rebord du bassin.

From the Latin "boccaria": a butcher's shop, the large market square, a place where cattle were traded, gave access to the city. This part of the city was the jurisdiction of the prince-bishop.
