Located in the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge are a series of boardwalks most of which go over the saltwater side of the refuge. Two boardwalks go over freshwater areas of the refuge. The Wildlife Education Boardwalk and Tower is in the fresh water area. This short boardwalk also has a two story tower in the shape of a an octagon for observation of wildlife. Access to this boardwalk is off of the Indigo Trail which costs $1.00 per person. This trail can be hiked or biked as it is a hard compacted crushed shell path. Bicycle racks are available at the start of the actual boardwalk which is 0.2 miles from the paved Wildlife Drive and the fee attendant.
Be sure to bring drinking water, bug spray, sunscreen for this hike.
