The Scottish Wildlife Trust runs the visitors center and two hides at the Loch of the Lowes. The main hide is a wooden, two-storey building that is situated at the lakeshore. The star attraction is a pair of breeding ospreys, which nest just 150 metres from our observation hide. The best time to watch them is from early April to late August.
There's an information sign showing where and when ospreys were first sighted after the time they had become totally extinct in Britain. Two more information boards in the main hide show the various species one can observe in this area.
