Februar 1970.

In February 1970, the last major flood occurred in Würzburg, which flooded parts of the old town. The flood was caused by thaw in the low mountain ranges from 20 February and heavy rainfalls. In southern Germany up to 70 litres per square meter fell on the still frozen ground from 21st to 23rd of February. In the low mountain regions were more than 50 centimetres of snow, which melted away in the thaw. This caused a flood wave that reached Würzburg on February 25th, 1970. The water level had a maximum height of 669 centimetres. Heavy frost, which began on this day, caused the water levels to drop rapidly again.
This high-water mark is in the passage between the Kärrnergasse and the Mainkai at the house Kärrnergasse 12 in about 2 meters height. It marks the state of the Main flood of February 25th, 1970.
