Op zondag 26 november vierde de carnavalsvereniging ’De Djimmers’ van Moelingen het 4x11-jarig jubileum. Om dit jubileum extra glans te geven werd in aanwezigheid van de Voerense carnavalsverenigingen, het gemeentebestuur, alle sympathisanten en feestneuzen op het kerkplein het standbeeld van ‘D’r Djimmer’ feestelijk onthuld. Aansluitend was er een receptie met presentatie van het jubileumboek en een foto tentoonstelling in het CC De Voerpoort. Prins Patrick en hofdame Petra, de Raad van Elf van de Djimmers, De Djimmerkes met jeugdprinses Alysha, de dansgroep en damesgarde dansten de Djim, nu wel met een polonaise, zoals de Oud Moelingenaars dit rond de eeuwwisseling deden.

De naam van de Djimmers wordt ontleend van de Djim een dans die volgens oudere Moelingenaren en o.m. Eugène Walpot op het einde van de 19de en begin 20ste eeuw in Moelingen gedanst werd. De kostumering (bolhoed en klompen, een net pak en een strikje) uit die tijd werd dan ook gekozen voor het logo van de vereniging. Dit logo werd door Hilda Walpot (dochter van Eugène) in 1973 ontworpen. Het beeldje dat zondag feestelijk werd ingehuldigd werd gemaakt en geschonken door oud-Moelingenaar Karl Syben.

On Sunday, November 26, the carnival association 'De Djimmers' of Moelingen celebrated the 4x11-year jubilee. The name of the Djimmers is borrowed from the Djim a dance that was danced in Moelingen at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century according to older Moelingen residents and Eugène Walpot. The costuming (bowler hat and clogs, a suit and a bow) from that time was therefore chosen for the logo of the association. This logo was designed by Hilda Walpot (daughter of Eugène) in 1973. The statue that was festively inaugurated on Sunday was made and donated by former Moelingenaar Karl Syben.
