The Brewarrina Lift Bridge opened on December 7th 1888 and is the furthest upstream of four similar bridges built across the Darling-Barwon River and is the second oldest. The lift span of 17.3m allowed paddlesteamers towing barges loaded with wool to pass. The bridge is now closed to vehicular traffic since a new concrete bridge was opened a few metres upstream
