European exploration by Samuel de Champlain
to the lake in 1609.

This time capsule was one part of the celebrations surrounding the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s arrival and European exploration to the lake. The time capsule was dedicated in February in 2012. It is to be opened in July 2106. Nearby, information panels have also been erected by the quadricentennial commission, panels which describe the celebrations.
