The scattered rural hamlet of Blacklunans is situated east of the A93 Blairgowrie to Braemar road in Glen Shee under the south-western side of Mount Blair.
Once the focal point of the community, the telephone box, like many others in rural areas of Scotland, fell out of use and was in danger of being lost.
Under BT's 'Adopt a Kiosk' scheme, the box was taken over by the community and became a mini library, with a book exchange scheme.
The box can be found on the minor road that runs eastwards from the A93 through Blacklunans towards Glen Isla.
