The most ancient palace in the Piazza dei Priori in Volterra is Palazzo dei Priori, the present day Town Hall designed by Richard of Como. It is the oldest town halls in Tuscany. Building work began in 1208 and was completed in the middle of the 13th century. The façade has gone through several changes over the centuries.During one of the restorations (probaly in 19th century) a new clock was added to the front façade of the building. Its circular dial is made of white marble with black Latin numerals and black clock hands.
