The Remember November 11 Foundation is an all-volunteer not-for-profit group established in 2008. Its main purposes are to help honour the heroes of Canada’s Armed Forces, educate people about their actions and help guide the country with a variety of ways to honour the fallen Canadian Soldier.
To that end, the Remembrance Garden was begun in 2014, using land donated by a local business, and the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers. Over the course of a year, the Garden slowly took shape, with the centrepiece being a 75' by 75' poppy outline, that has been planted with thousands of poppy seeds that bloom twice a year. The poppy outline contains the pictures of hundreds of area servicemen who died in the First World War.
There are monuments and memorial to World War I and II veterans, Korean War veterans, Canadian POW/MIA, Peacekeepers, a Victoria Cross Winner and D-Day, just to cite a few.
The Gardens are located on River Road, just off Veterans Memorial Parkway.
There is no charge to visit, though donations are always greatly appreciated.
