County of Angel: Franklin County
Location of Angel: Walking trail, behind All Abilities Park, Washington

"About 20 new bricks will be dedicated at the fourth annual memorial candlelight vigil at the Angel of Hope Memorial Garden in Washington.

"The event will be held at the garden Sunday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. During the ceremony, the names on new bricks purchased in 2015 will be read aloud.

'“It’s a nice venue to come to help families, friends and loved ones to cope through the holiday,” said Robin Peirick, Angel of Hope committee member.

"The garden is designed to be a quiet place for parents and others to remember their loved ones who have passed away. It is located in a secluded area in the Bernie Hillermann Park, located south of the All-Abilities Park.

'“Everyone there is in the same boat,” Peirick said. “It’s nice to be around people who are experiencing the same grief and it’s a chance to pay tribute to your loved one.”

"The memorial garden is for all people throughout Franklin County and beyond. It was funded entirely through private donations and fundraisers.

"In 2011, the city council approved development of the park and a short time later agreed to provide $25,000 in advanced funds to cover the cost of ordering the angel statue which is the centerpiece of the garden.

"The garden was installed in time for the 2012 service.

"The vigil is held each Dec. 6 in communities with Angel of Hope gardens throughout the world.

"The first Angel of Hope Garden in Salt Lake City was dedicated Dec. 6, 1994.

"In addition to the Angel of Hope, the garden also features memorial bricks inscribed with the names of deceased children.

"The statue and the surrounding area are intended to be a place of healing for all bereaved parents, family members and friends." ~ The Missourian, by Karen Butterfield, November 21, 2015
