The Central Darling Shire Office building opened in June 1887 as a branch of the London Chartered Bank of Australia,banking business was conducted on the ground floor with the upper floor and the rear of the building used as a residence for the manager and staff.
The Bank of New South Wales operated from here between 1935 and 1972 when the shire acquired the building for use as the council chambers
