It was announced in several local newspapers but the Mercury is the one with the biggest circulation.

The article (visit link) reads:

"Limerick >> Exelon Generation will host a community information night at Limerick Generating Station on Thursday, Aug. 30. The free event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the plant, located at 3146 Sanatoga Road, Limerick.

“Attendees are welcomed to bring any question with them for community information night. Our employee volunteers are excited to welcome visitors and are happy to answer questions at the event,” said Emily Ryan, communications manager at Limerick Generating Station.

Plant employees will be available to talk with members of the public and answer questions about a variety of topics including: plant operations, environmental stewardship, radiological safety and emergency preparedness.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the station’s control room simulator, which is used for training reactor operators. The event does not include a tour of the plant.

The annual community information night events at the plant are an important part of Exelon Generation’s annual public information and outreach campaign, according to the company. They are “designed to engage and educate the public on plant operations,” the press release stated.

“We enjoy the opportunity to welcome our neighbors onsite and share information about nuclear power operations,” Ryan added.

Registration for the event is requested, but is not required to attend the event. Members of the public may register online by visiting (visit link) .

Once visitors arrive at the Limerick plant for the event, signage will direct them and Limerick employees will be on hand to show visitors where to proceed, according to Ryan.

Ice cream and water ice from Petrucci’s will be served. There will also be a balloon stand for children. The event is for all ages, Ryan added.

Limerick Generating Station is a nuclear power plant that produces enough electricity to power two million homes.
