A Norman font in St James' church, Jacobstow.
"Placed at the West end of the nave, close to the West respond of the South arcade. Of Altamun (?) type (
visit link) , very similar to nearby Warbstow font, except the rosettes are six-petalled and one corner head (NE) is clearly bearded; also the West face has a smaller rosette flanked by a cupped trefoil leaf and a roughly incised flower motif, the area above being left rough-hewn. The basal cable moulding of the bow, tooling marks and the use of Hick's Grey Millstone are all similar to Warbstow (
visit link) . The bulbous base, which is slightly more tapering, rests on a shallow modern base. The octagonal stem supports a bowl without a lead lining for the basin.
