""Sant Pau del Seminari is a chapel of the municipality of Tarragona protected as a cultural asset of local interest. It is one of the oldest and best preserved testimonies of the Tarragona Romanesque style. The chapel is mentioned in a document from the beginning of the 13th century. Santa Tecla la Vella and with decorative details of the cloister.

Architecture
A tiny temple with only one nave looks like that of Santa Tecla la Vella.

With a rectangular ground plan and columns on each side with Corinthian capitals, on the main façade there is a door with a lintel, overlaid later, without a doubt, due to the weariness of the first ogival that still remains inside. He also has a decorated pediment. Between this and the lintel a circular rose window is opened.

Rectangular, two-section structure with no cruise or chapels added and small dimensions (7.75 by 3.5 meters). It was built with solid scaffolds of small dimensions (but regular size) in a Romanesque style from the end of the 12th century or early XIII (1215).

Oriented to the southeast, in the interior there are quadripartite vaulted vaults and similar nerves, in section, to the cloister, the keys show reliefs with a bird and a flower, the arches rest in braces.

In the straight head is a window that originally lit the interior, when the new Pontifical Seminary (finished in 1886) is built, the chapel is at an angle of the yard and the new galleries do not let the light pass from the window.

The outer wall is decorated with columns finished off by corintizing capitals, attached to each one of the angles and in the middle of the lateral facade. Seagulls are observed that present different marks of stonemasons and all the outer perimeter of the construction shows at the top lobed arches, very similar to those of the cloister of the cathedral.

The main façade has a portal of rectangular lintel framed by light fronton with reliefs of garlands of vegetable cuttings. You see the remains of a half-point arc that corresponds to the original entrance, since the lintel is a later addition.

In the upper part is a rosette decorated with sogear and moldings and the construction is completed by a cornice of blind arches wrapped in the form of pebbles. On the façade, with modern bills, there is a small steeple bell tower. On the other hand, two windows are opened on each of the side facades.

To access it you have to climb four steps that extend over the entire length of this facade, but in old photographs it is seen that the level of the pavement before was higher.

History
At the beginning the chapel was in the small alley of San Pablo that disappeared when in 1883 the construction of the new and current seminar began and more space was given to the street, from then on the chapel inside the new building .

Some historians have believed that the Apostle Paul preached there when he came to Tarragona because it is a very visible rock. It is about her where the chapel was built, but nothing has been confirmed.

The dedication of the church to the Holy One could be related to the community that, instituted on the site, was dedicated to the assistance of the old or sick canons and that seems to have had the residence next to the chapel.

A 1233 document contains the names of the predecessors nurses of the chapel of Sant Pau. "
