The HSBC Center is the second tallest building in New York outside of New York City, beaten only by Corning Tower in Albany. This 40-story building was completed in 1972 and is home to several companies. Some of the list includes HSBC Bank USA, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, the Canadian Consulate, several law and accounting firms, and many others.
The NFTA Metro Rail light rail line passes underneath the tower. Access roads also pass underneath, but were closed off after the terrorist attacks of September 11. There also was a restaurant on the top floor, but that also has closed, presumably for the same reason.
The only publicly accessible portions of the building are the plaza level and lobby/first floor. The remainder of the building requires an ID to access.
