The Red Onion Saloon is an historic building listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing building to the Skagway Historic District and White Pass. It was build in 1897 by Captain William Moore, the founder of Skagway. The ground floor was a bar and upstairs was the most exclusive brothel in Skagway, which flourished during the gold rush.
According to the Red Onion Menu: link
"The Red Onion was moved in 1914
with one horse from Sixth and State Street to
its current Broadway location. Interestingly, the
Onion was dragged around the corner backwards
and the front and back of the building had to be
removed in order to switch them."
