Winkelman is a copper mining town in central Arizona. This Little Free Library # 21393 is in a corner of the parking lot for the Hayden High School. Sadly, there are more books dumped on the ground behind the library box than in it. Winkelman with a population of 300+ has seen a 50% decline in population since 1990. It is a copper mining town with few other opportunities for employment. An education, with good reading skills would seem the best opportunity to break the cycle of boom and bust in the mining industry yet the ability to read seems to be little regarded.
