"RECOGNITION
It is true that with its geometrical figures, its coat of arms on the front and its funny stained glass windows, the Sainte-Ide church, perched at Ostrohove, has a charm of its own. REMARKABLE DETAILS
Designed by architect Paul Drobecq and completed in 1937, the Sainte-Ide church has a modern style. Until the details, she is amazing. These mosaics, on the ground, evoke the holy writings but also the history of Boulogne and its principal economic activities, like fishing.
EXCEPTIONAL WINDOWS
The largest stained glass windows adorning the church (above) are the work of Henri Lhotellier and date from the construction of the building. Other windows were added later, like the one above Largillier, made in 1958. The church, built on a plot donated by the Huret family, whose castle is next door, was financed small by the donations of the faithful and has been improved over time, says Paul Arblay. These stained glass windows have recently been restored in the same way. Paul Drobecq has created many buildings in the region, including the town hall of Le Touquet.
A RELIQUE OF HOLY-IDE
Saint-Ide, Countess of Boulogne, was the mother of Godefroy de Bouillon. At its creation, one of the relics of St. Ide, which was in the chapel of the Benedictine monastery of Bayeux, was donated to the church of Ostrohove, where it can still be found (photo).

 "Cette chapelle est construite par l’abbé Jouez, curé de Saint-Martin, et confiée à l’architecte Pierre Drobecq, afin de doter le hameau d'Ostrohove d’un lieu de culte plus proche que son église paroissiale.
L'église bénéficie du label « Patrimoine du XXe siècle » depuis le 15 décembre 2009. Elle est également inscrite au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 10 juillet 2015.
L’église, datant de 1936, est un petit édifice, en forme de croix latine, construit en béton armé et pierre du pays lui conférant une allure rustique dans un style régionaliste. Elle est considérée comme le manifeste du mouvement artistique « La Nef », basé sur la volonté de création d’une œuvre d’art totale. L’utilisation du béton a permis de réaliser des formes inédites que n’altère pas l’usage de références néo-romanes, médiévales ou d’esprit médiéval. "

Et surtout grâce à Paul Arblay, qui continue à veiller sur elle, seul, même si son association a périclité. Il ouvrira ses portes samedi pour les Journées du patrimoine."
"RECONNAISSANCE
C’est vrai qu’avec ses figures géométriques, ses armoiries en façade et ses drôles de vitraux, l’église Sainte-Ide, perchée à Ostrohove, a un charme qui lui est propre. Son inscription aux monuments historiques vient confirmer la préciosité de ce bâtiment sur lequel des Saint-Martinois veillent. Enfin, surtout un Saint-Martinois : Paul Arblay. Ex-président de l’association de préservation de l’église, il est désormais seul relais local de l’association diocésaine, à qui elle appartient. Samedi, c’est lui qui ouvrira les portes de Sainte-Ide pour les Journées du patrimoine. Hormis cette date, l’église accueille encore des messes, baptêmes, enterrements... « Les habitants d’Ostrohove sont très attachés à leur église », commente Paul Arblay. Lui qui habite à deux pas est né « ici », juste à côté d’elle, et la chérit « depuis toujours ». Pour lui, le titre « monument historique », c’est une « reconnaissance » et l’assurance de sa protection. L’église et son quartier sont désormais surveillés par les Bâtiments de France.
DÉTAILS REMARQUABLES
Dessinée par l’architecte Paul Drobecq et achevée en 1937, l’église Sainte-Ide a un style moderne. Jusque dans les détails, elle est étonnante. Ces mosaïques, au sol, évoquent les écrits saints mais aussi l’histoire de Boulogne et ses principales activités économiques, comme la pêche.
DES VITRAUX EXCEPTIONNELS
Les plus grands vitraux qui ornent l’église (ci-dessus) sont l’œuvre de Henri Lhotellier et datent de la construction de l’édifice. D’autres vitraux ont été ajoutés plus tard, comme celui, ci-dessus, de Largillier, réalisé en 1958. L’église, construite sur un terrain donné par la famille Huret, dont le château est juste à côté, a été financée petit à petit par les dons des fidèles et a été améliorée au fil du temps, raconte Paul Arblay. Ces vitraux ont récemment été restaurés par le même biais. Paul Drobecq a créé de nombreux édifices de la région, dont l’hôtel de Ville du Touquet.
UNE RELIQUE DE SAINTE-IDE
Sainte-Ide, comtesse de Boulogne, était la mère de Godefroy de Bouillon. À sa création, une des reliques de Sainte-Ide, qui reposait dans la chapelle du monastère des Bénédictines de Bayeux, fut donnée à l’église d’Ostrohove, où on peut encore l’y trouver (photo).
BESOIN DE TRAVAUX
L’association des Amis du patrimoine cultive la mémoire de l’église Sainte-Ide par ses publications, Paul Arblay veille, lui, sur ses pierres. C’est lui qui guide l’association diocésaine vers les travaux les plus urgents et demande le déblocage de fonds. Petit à petit. « Il n’y a pas de budget prédéfini », commente-t-il. C’est donc avec les moyens du bord que les restaurations se font. Dernièrement plusieurs parties en plâtre ont été restaurées par un staffeur boulonnais. Mais il reste encore du travail à ce niveau, au vu de l’état du plafond, ( photo), qui a souffert de l’ancien chauffage, explique Paul Arblay. Bonne nouvelle : le titre de monument historique permet de solliciter des aides de l’État. "
