Corner Gas is a Canadian television sitcom created by Brent Butt. The series ran for six seasons from 2004 to 2009. Deriving its name from the roadside gas station in the fictional town of Dog River, Saskatchewan, Corner Gas is the only gas station for 60 kilometres (37 mi) in any direction. The series completed its run following broadcast of its sixth season on April 13, 2009, with a total of 107 episodes. The show averaged a million viewers per episode. Corner Gas received six Gemini Awards, and was nominated almost 70 times for various awards. Corner Gas was filmed entirely in Saskatchewan. The interior shots (Ruby Cafe interior, Police Department, Oscar and Emma's house, etc.) were filmed at Canada/Saskatchewan Production Studios in Regina. All the outdoor scenes and all scenes that take place in the gas station were filmed on location in Rouleau, Saskatchewan. Rouleau is a small town on Highway 39 between Moose Jaw and Weyburn. The grain elevator was repainted to read "Dog River" instead of "Rouleau"

Visitors to "Dog River" - which is actually the town of Rouleau Saskatchewan - should instantly recognize the Dog River Hotel from being the same one used in the hit Canadian television series. Not only does it still bear the name of "Dog River Hotel", but the buildings exterior still looks remarkable the same as it did when the series was filmed in Rouleau between 2003 and 2008.

In the show the exterior of the hotel is usually shown briefly, to "set the scene, immediately before an scene which has some of the main characters visiting this establishment. Such was the case with the very first episode, where Brent and Lacey visit the hotel and talk about how the grand re-opening of Ruby's Cafe went. However, it's not until Episode 10 of Season 1 that we have a scene shot in front of the hotel featuring dialogue between characters. In that scene, we have Paul Kinistino, the bartender of the hotel, moving cases of beer from a pickup truck (obviously for use in the hotel). Hank approaches him and asks for permission to MC for an upcoming comedy night at the hotel - a request that is quickly accepted by Paul

Another unique feature of this building is that most of the interior scenes were also filmed inside the building (most of the interior scenes from other nearby buildings were actually filmed on sound stages in Saskatoon). There are many scenes that recorded inside the hotel. In the following screenshot from Season 1 Episode 9, we are given a quick view of the outside of the hotel before the scene moves inside, where we have Oscar asking Paul what happened to the shuffleboard. Paul tells Oscar that the shuffleboard was replaced, with the claw game - to which Oscar is first agree about, but before long his is predictably addicted to the claw game.

"The Dog River Hotel also contained the local bar and was a gathering place for the residents of Dog River. It was originally owned by Paul Kinistino, but his brother Phil replaced him as bartender during the series. For the series Corner Gas, all of the exterior and interior scenes were filmed here at the hotel in Rouleau."
