Een zwingelput of draaiput is een waterput met een (houten) opbouw (het puthuisje) waarin een katrol- of lier-mechanisme bevestigd is om water uit de grond boven te halen. Boven op de vaak stenen put werd een houten opbouw met dak gebouwd waarin een houten rol bevestigd werd waaromheen het touw gedraaid werd. Deze houten rol werd met de hand aangedreven door een grote zwingel, waarmee het water naar boven werd "gezwingeld".

Zwingelputten komen onder andere veelvuldig voor in Nederlands Zuid-Limburg waar de meeste zwingelputten te vinden zijn in dorpen en buurtschappen die gelegen zijn op de hogere delen van het landschap. In dorpen waar men geen beschikking had over een beek werd dan een put aangelegd om toch water te hebben voor het vee, de was of het huishouden. De putten zijn vaak in gebruik geweest totdat de dorpen werden aangesloten op de waterleiding. Vanwege de cultuur-historische waarde zijn een aantal van deze putten bestempeld als rijksmonument.

A swiveling pit or pivot is a well with a (wooden) structure (the pit housing) in which a pulley or winch mechanism is attached to extract water from the ground. On top of the often stone pit, a wooden structure with a roof was built in which a wooden roll was attached around which the rope was turned. This wooden roll was driven by hand by a large swivel, with which the water was "swept up".

Incubators, for example, are frequently found in Dutch South Limburg, where most of the erosion wells can be found in villages and hamlets that are located on the higher parts of the landscape. In villages where there was no disposal of a stream, a well was constructed to have water for the cattle, the laundry or the household. The wells were often in use until the villages were connected to the water supply. Because of the cultural-historical value, a number of these wells have been designated as a national monument.
