From the Isle of Man Times, Saturday, October 23 1875, Page 5:

"Ramsey and the North
DEATH OF ANOTHER RAMSEY TRADESMAN. -
(By Telegraph) - Intelligence was received in Ramsey yesterday of the death of Mr William Garret, grocer. The deceased had been unwell for some months, and about three weeks ago he went to Matlock Bath, hoping to receive some benefit from his visit, but he died yesterday. He was formerly connected with the firm of the late Daniel Goldsmith, merchant, and was a member of the first School Committee for Ramsey. His remains will be conveyed to the Island to-day for internment on Monday afternoon, at one o’clock, at Andreas, of which parish he was a native.";

from the Mona’s Herald, Thursday, October 28, 1875, Page 13:

"RAMSEY AND THE NORTH
DEATH OF MR WM. GARRETT. - It is our painful duty to record the loss of another leading tradesman of Ramsey in the death of Mr Wm. Garrett, grocer, &c. He had visited Malton some weeks ago for the benefit of his health, and his friends considered that he was so far recovered that he might return home; but vain hope! A relapse came on and he returned again to England, where he died on Friday last. His remains were taken to the Island on Saturday, and were interred in Andreas churchyard on Monday. The funeral cortege was large, as he was highly respected by (we may say) the whole of the inhabitants of Ramsey.";

and from the Manx Sun, Saturday, October 30, 1875, Page 23:

"On Friday, Oct. 22nd, William Garrett, merchant, Ramsey, aged 40 years."
