"Élu par les internautes plus beau monument de la Sarthe l’été dernier, le Donjon sera un peu plus que d’habitude l’attraction touristique de Ballon-Saint-Mars, ce dimanche 6 mai.
« Ça va amener des gens et faire de l’animation dans le village », espère Catherine Malabry, boulangère de la commune.
L’été dernier, « Le Maine Libre » a proposé au public de découvrir les plus beaux monuments de la Sarthe. Les internautes avaient été appelés à voter pour leur édifice préféré.

L’enceinte romaine du Mans, le château du Lude, la porte Saint-Julien de La Ferté-Bernard, le pont romain de Montfort-le-Gesnois, la cathédrale du Mans, l’abbaye de l’Épau à Yvré-l’Évêque, le Donjon de Ballon, le château de Sillé-le-Guillaume et l’abbaye de Solesmes. Au total, neuf monuments étaient en lice.
L’événement de dimanche est l’occasion pour l'ensemble des habitants de Ballon de recevoir et de fêter ce titre.
« Pour la commune et les propriétaires, c’est une belle mise en valeur. En face, il y avait huit autres monuments de grande qualité. Cette élection est quand même une surprise parce que face à la cathédrale du Mans ou à l’abbaye de l’Épau, le Donjon a une notoriété moindre. C’est une bonne chose de mettre l’accent sur ce monument qui a du charme et qui est un repère dans le paysage du Saosnois », indique Maurice Vavasseur, maire de la commune.
Le programme
15 heures : ouverture des portes.
15 h 30 : remise des prix dans la cour du Donjon.
16 heures : danse des élèves de l’école de Ballon menée par la compagnie À Plaisir.
16 h 15 : départ du parcours conté dans le jardin par la Compagnie du Merle blanc.
16 h 30 : début des visites guidées du Donjon par groupes.
17 h 30 : verre de l’amitié.

The Roman walls of Le Mans, the castle of Lude, the Saint-Julien gate of La Ferte-Bernard, the Roman bridge of Montfort-le-Gesnois, the cathedral of Le Mans, the abbey of l'Epau in Yvré-l ' Bishop, the Dungeon of Ballon, the castle of Sille-le-Guillaume and the Abbey of Solesmes. A total of nine monuments were in the running.
The event on Sunday is an opportunity for all inhabitants of Ballon to receive and celebrate this title.
"For the municipality and the owners, it is a beautiful development. Opposite, there were eight other high quality monuments. This election is still a surprise because in front of the cathedral of Le Mans or the abbey of l'Epau, the dungeon has less notoriety. It is a good thing to focus on this monument that has charm and is a landmark in the landscape of Saosnois, "says Maurice Vavasseur, Mayor of the town.
The program
3 pm: opening of the doors.
3.30 pm: awards ceremony in the Donjon Court.
4 pm: Dance of the pupils of the Ballon School led by the company À Plaisir.
4:15 pm: Departure of the storytelling in the garden by the Compagnie du Merle blanc.
4:30 pm: guided tours of the dungeon in groups.
5.30 pm: drink of friendship
