[GER]Die Stadt Rödermark entstand 1977 aus den beiden bis dahin selbständigen Gemeinden Ober-Roden und Urberach. Beide Ortsteile haben noch heute ihr Rathaus, in denen nun jeweils ein Teil der Verwaltung untergebracht ist. Das Rathaus in Ober-Roden liegt im historischen Stadtkern, zwischen der Kirche in der Ortsmitte und dem Fluß Rodau. Eine erste schriftliche Erwähnung zu einer Besiedlung im heutigen Bereich von Ober-Roden findet sich 786 in einer Schenkungsurkunde, dort als "raodora" bezeichnet. Damit blickt Ober-Roden auf eine mehr als 1200-jährige Geschichte zurück und hat dies 1986 groß gefeiert.

Das Rathaus in Ober-Roden besteht aus einem neuen und einem alten Teil. Der ältere Teil wurde 1859 gebaut und bis 1910 als Schule genutzt. Es verfügt über zwei Geschosse und einen Steinsockel sowie Fensterrahmen aus Stein. Über dem bogenförmigen Eingang findet sich die Bezeichnung Rathaus. Direkt daran angebaut wurde der vierstöckige neuere Teil mit einer klaren horizontalen Gliederung durch die durchgängigen Fensterreihen. Hier findet sich auch der Eingang zum Rathaus. Das Wappen der Stadt findet sich zusammen mit dem Namen des Rathauses auf der Seitenwand des neueren Teils.

[ENG]The city of Rödermark was founded in 1977 from the two until then independent communities Ober-Roden and Urberach. The entrance to the town hall is in this part of the building. The coat of arms of the city can be found on the side wall of the newer part, together with the name of the town hall.
