The memorial was built before 1928, by architect Dino Borradori from Guastalla.

The memorial’s base is a huge staircase at the end of which rises a column, once part of an ancient temple. Until 1997, on top of the column, burned a bronze lantern now held in San Leo’s museums. It was removed when Arnaldo Pomodoro held his exhibition, entitled “Sculptures for San Leo and Cagliostro", in San Leo. The work of art Pomodoro created, made of cast metal, portrays a bow and an arrow rotating on top of the column when the wind blows.
