Displayed at the Museum of the Big Bend. It is on the wall at the top of the stairwell leading down to the museum's map collection. Admission to the museum is free. Open Tues-Sat 9am-5pm & Sun 1pm-5pm. Closed on Monday.

Artist Xavier Gonzalez was a native of Spain. He taught at the Sul Ross State Teacher's College (now Sul Ross State University) in Alpine in the late 1930s.

The mural is 6' x 14' oil on canvas. It is a rugged mountain scene with cactus. The moons glow lights up the left side of the mural.
