"9.3 meters high and 8.7 meters in diameter, this Neolithic stone, which would be sunk 5 meters into the ground, is wedged in the shale, the nearest granite outcrop being 3.25 kilometers south-southwest.
For Father Robert, he is the "king of the menhirs of Ille-et-Vilaine and perhaps of Brittany".
His name could be a reminder of the battle fought in 560 by Clothaire I, King of the Franks, against his son Chramme and the Earl of Brittany. It would have been around the megalith.
Many legends have been grafted on this menhir, presumably evoked in the hagiographic account devoted to the life of Samson.
Of the legends attached to the menhir, two can be reported:
-The angry sky of the fratricidal and bloody struggle between two brothers caused the stone to burst suddenly to seperate them
The menhir imperceptibly sinks every time there is a death; when it disappears it will be the end of the world! We have time..."

"Haute de 9,3 mètres et d'un diamètre de 8,7 mètres, cette pierre dressée au néolithique, et qui serait enfoncée de 5 mètres dans le sol, est calée dans le schiste, l'affleurement de granit le plus proche étant à 3,25 kilomètres au sud-sud-ouest.
Pour l'abbé Robert, c'est le "roi des menhirs d'Ille-et-Vilaine et peut être de Bretagne".
Son nom pourrait être un rappel de la bataille livrée en 560 par Clothaire Ier, roi des Francs, contre son fils Chramme et le comte de Bretagne. Elle se serait déroulée autour du mégalithe.
Beaucoup de légendes ont été greffées sur ce menhir, vraisemblablement évoqué dans le récit hagiographique consacré à la vie de Samson.
Parmi les légendes attachées au menhir, deux peuvent être rapportées:
-Le ciel courroucé de la lutte fratricide et sanglante entre deux frères fit surgir brusquement la pierre pour les sépater
-Le menhir s'enfonce imperceptiblement à chaque fois qu'il y a un mort; quand il disparaitra ce sera la fin du monde ! On a le temps..."
