 "In June 1489, the representative of the King of France, Jean de Rohan, lord Breton, began the construction of a new church. With the agreement of the Dinnanese, he decided that it would now stand inside the walls. In May 1490, the first stone of the sanctuary was laid.
Carried by unanimous fervor, Frenchmen, Bretons, workmen, soldiers, clergy, craftsmen, nobles, bourgeois, went to work and erected with a single jet the choir, the chevet and the transept of the church.
The architecture is symbolic: inside, the stripping of the vertical lines, pure and rigorous, contrasts with the curves and the complex ornamentation of the exterior architecture, where the flying buttresses, the apse chapels and the high pinnacles support an extraordinary profusion of gargoyles, masks, monsters, flowers, caricature effigies.
The Revolution disaffected the church which was completely devastated. Scratched to the vaults, the building served as a corn market, a theater and then a weapons forge. Finally restored to worship in 1803, the building was restored and completed with a very sure taste during the Second Empire: the Dinnanese then rebuilt the nave and its aisles, in the spirit and according to the plans of their predecessors of the XV century.
On February 23, 1851, a relic of Saint-Malo was restored to the church and deposited in a reliquary. From 1854, large stained glass windows were installed, the most remarkable of which date from the years 1923 to 1927. "

 "En juin 1489, le représentant du roi de France, Jean de Rohan, seigneur breton, entreprend la construction d’une nouvelle église. Avec l’accord des Dinnanais, il décida qu’elle se dresserait désormais à l’intérieur des remparts. En mai 1490, fut posée la première pierre du sanctuaire.
Portés par une ferveur unanime, Français, Bretons, ouvriers, soldats, clergé, artisans, nobles, bourgeois, se mirent au travail et érigèrent d’un seul jet le chœur, le chevet et le transept de l’église.
L’architecture en est symbolique : à l’intérieur le dépouillement des lignes verticales, pures et rigoureuses, contraste avec les courbes et l’ornementation complexe de l’architecture extérieure, où les arcs-boutants, les chapelles absidiales et les hauts pinacles supportent un foisonnement extraordinaire de gargouilles, mascarons, monstres, fleurs, effigies caricaturales.
La Révolution désaffecta l’église qui fut entièrement dévastée. Gratté jusqu’aux voûtes, le bâtiment servit de halle au blé, de théâtre puis de forge d’armes. Rendue finalement au culte en 1803, l’édifice fut restauré et achevé avec un goût très sûr durant le Second Empire : les Dinnanais rebâtirent alors la nef et ses bas-côtés, dans l’esprit et suivant les plans de leurs prédécesseurs du XV° siècle.
Le 23 février 1851, une relique de Saint-Malo fut restituée à l’église et déposée dans un reliquaire. A partir de 1854, de grands vitraux furent posés, dont les plus remarquables datent des années 1923 à 1927."
