The Reading Regional Airport is home to two charter services, Air and Millennium Aviation, several car rental businesses, Boscov's Travel Agency and Klingers Restaurant, noted for its wings, very appropriate for an airport food! Also within the airport building is the Berks County Sheriff's Office and the offices of a state representative. Memorabilia is showcased in two displays and a 1/2 scale model of the Wright Brothers first plane hangs in the boarding area. Three runways provide ample area for planes to come and go.
It wasn't always an airport used by the public. In April 1938 it began life as a civil airport, training troops of the United States Army Air Forces before they participated in World War II. In 1946, the city of Reading took over the maintenance for the Reading Regional Airport.
The highlight of this airport in today's world is a yearly World War II airshow held each June sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, located at the aiport.
