The SE corner of Littler and 1st St. is the location of Edmond's Safety Center, the headquarters of the Edmond Police Department. Public access is at the NW corner (the NE corner is the detention center).
The beautiful lobby displays photographs from Edmond's early days, including pictures of the police force thru the years. It's worth a visit to the Police Dept. just to see those historic photos! A statue of Sherlock Holmes greets visitors to the Lobby.
In addition to Patrol and Special Services, the website states there is also a Criminal Investigations Division which includes the Bomb Squad Unit, the Dive Team Unit, the Narcotics Unit, the Sex Offenders Unit & the Underwater Explosive Recovery Specialist.
According to a NewsOk story (Oct. 29, 2015)
The more than 70,000-square-foot building at Littler Avenue and First Street is the new state-of-the-art home for police headquarter, public safety communications and emergency management.
City leaders worked for more than 10 years to come up with a new public safety center. Police Chief Bob Ricks called it a first class facility, one of the best in the state.
A 14-cell jail in the basement will house 38 inmates.
The nearly $37 million complex also includes a 15,000-square-foot building near 33rd Street and Broadway for the police department's crime lab and storage for evidence and vehicles.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
