The Stillwater Police Dept. moved into this building at 723 South Lewis in 1939. The website for the Police Dept. has a great write-up of their history as well as a welcome from the Chief.

Just to the right of the entrance to the police dept. (on the west side of the building) is a garden and memorial to Michaele Henson, a three time mayor and community leader.

An excerpt from the History tab:

Prior to Oklahoma statehood in 1907, Federal Marshals out of Guthrie, a City Marshal, and a night watchmen provided protection for Stillwater citizens. It was not until the late 1920’s that plans were put in place for Stillwater’s first Police Department.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
