Robber's Cave State Park is located on Highway 2 about seven miles north of Wilburton. Alongside the parking lot in front of the Nature Center is the headstone of Carlton Weaver (8/25/1882 - 8/17/1947). Coming to Oklahoma Indian Territory in the 1890's, he was influential in early Oklahoma government, and help establish Robber's Cave State Park. He wanted to be buried in the park in the land he loved.
On his headstone among the dates of his governmental successes is the date of his spiritual birth (1903). On the back of the headstone, there are quotations from the Bible as his final statement of his faith. They read:
TO YOU WHO MAY PASS
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart." - Prov. 3:5
"He that believeth on Him (Jesus) is not condemned." John 3:18
"He that believeth on Him (Jesus) hath everlasting life." John 6:47
