This time capsule was placed as a celebration of the country's Bicentennial in 1976.

In front of the east entrance to the Latimer County Courthouse, this time capsule was placed in 1976 at the time of the country's 200th birthday. It is located directly next to a war memorial placed at the same time.
On top of the time capsule is a granite marker which reads:
TIME CAPSULE
The citizens of Latimer
Co. compiled and buried
this capsule in 1976 to
be opened in 2076.
