Le repère IGN est situé sur la gauche du monument face à la route qui mène de Guise à Laon.
Ce monument commémoratif nous rappelle, qu’en 1914, du 28 au 30 août eut lieu la fameuse bataille de Guise, il a été fait à la gloire de la Vème armée française et de son chef le général LANREZAC.
Le général LANREZAC porte un coup d’arrêt à l’ennemi pendant la bataille de Guise. Cette bataille a participé à la victoire de la bataille de la Marne, 10 jours plus tard.
Ce monument fut inauguré le 28 avril 1929, à cette patte d’oie qui mène d’un côté à St Quentin et de l’autre à Laon. Ce sont les jumeaux Jean et Joël MARTEL, sculpteur et décorateur, qui sont à l’origine de ce monument.
