The White Pass and Yukon Railway once took gold miners from Skagway, AK across the White Pass and onto Carcross, Yukon Territory. Today it takes visitors to Skagway on excursions from sea level across the White Pass, elevation 2888 feet.
The White Pass marks the boundary between Alaska and British Columbia. The border is marked by a stone obelisk set high on a hill adjacent to the railroad tracks. An American flag and a Canadian flag flanks the obelisk.
