The oval Blue Plaque is at the southern end of the unique Church, just to the left of the 'Corintian styled' entry - above which is a Dated Section, of 1927. The plaque reads.
Newland Memorial Uniting Church
To cater for the increasing size of the congregation, particularly the influx of
summer visitor, this very distinctive church was built to seat 500 people. Its
unique design features a crescent-shaped front facade with six imposing Ionic
columns. The church is highly regarded for its acoustics which are excellent for
music, along with the semi-circular seating arrangement that brings the
audience closer. Newland Memorial Church was dedicated to the memory
of pioneer pastor, Reverend Ridgwat W Newland, and his son
Simpson Newland. It was opened in 1927 by a grandson of
the pastor, Sir Henry Newland, a well know
Adelaide surgeon.
