Cette capsule témoin, qui sera ouverte en 2060,
contient une lettre adressée à la jeunesse du Manitoba,
écrite et placée ici
par
Sa Majesté la reine Elizabeth II
le 3 juillet 2010.

As a key part of this new terminal's dedication ceremony, the Winnipeg Airports Authority commissioned Stantec Architecture to create this time capsule fit for a Queen. The uniquely designed capsule is on permanent display in the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport for future generations as a legacy honouring both the Queen and the Province of Manitoba. The capsule, to be opened 50 years from now, is a 2 foot glass cylinder inside a solid stainless steel housing. The Royal Crest is laser-etched indelibly into the housing’s surface and the entire assemblage measures five feet in length. A cutaway was made in one of the terminal’s concrete structural columns to contain and protect the time capsule as it awaits its unveiling in the year 2060.
It contains a signed letter from Queen Elizabeth II to the youth of Manitoba. In addition to the letter which is itself in a gold plated cylinder, a specially designed vessel in the capsule contains an exquisite hand-blown glass rose within a hand-carved wooden box, engraved with the Manitoba crest given as a gift from the Queen. The design of the capsule itself was inspired by the ceremonial Royal Mace, and the dramatic curves of the roof of the new terminal.
