When I was there in late May 2018 (LATE at night), this building was up for sale or lease. The Blue Plaque was on the left-hand side of the entry that faces directly into the intersection of Ocean
Savings Bank of South Australia
Designed by architect C.W. Rutt and constructed at a cost of £4900
by local builder Ray Milton, this two storey building opened as the Savings
Bank of South Australia in 1928. The original building on the site was the
National Bank which later became a residence known as Granite House.
Granite from this building, which was quarried on West Island in the
1880s by Andrew Oliver, can now be seen in the foundations of
the current building.
