The present Neo-Baroque, Renaissance Revival and Romanesque Revival style British Columbia Parliament Buildings were authorized by the provincial legislature in 1893. Francis Rattenbury won a design competition for the construction of the buildings. The symmetrical design includes a central dome flanked by two end pavilions. The total length of the andesite façade in 500 feet long.
