The Davidson-Penland House at 1207 Postoffice Street (street nane is not misspelled) is no stranger to destructive forces. "Having survived the 1885 Fire and 1900 Storm, it is one of the oldest existing examples of its kind in the East End District." (from Texas Historical Marker in yard).
In 2008, Hurrican Ike flooded much of Galveston. The brass and blue plaque on the right corner (facing) shows how close the water came to entering this Greek Revival home.
