The Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet, FL, is a fascinating stop with kids but it is so enjoyable that I went back to visit it on my own.

After touring the Marine Science Center and then visiting the SeaBird Rehabilitation Sanctuary, meander across the street and take a tour of the nature trail. The trail is a loop walk but right about the middle of it, you will see an offshoot boardwalk trail to the Observation Tower. Just in case you are worried about getting lost on this short walk, there is a map available. (visit link) .

From one side of the tower, you can view the New Smyrna Beach skyline across the Indian River. From the other directions, you will be overlooking the scrub woods of the area and should be able to spot several types of birds.

Warning, take mosquito repellant!!!

The Museum hours are: Hours: (Labor Day to Memorial Day) Tuesday - Saturday 10 am-4 pm Sunday 12 noon to 4 pm Closed Monday However, you can walk on the nature trail at any time, dusk to dawn.
