The two storey Queen Anne style Rio Vista was built in 1889 for William Benjamin Chaffey who with his brother helped establish the first irrigation scheme in Australia. After his second wife died in 1950 Rio Vista was purchased by the Mildura City Council and converted into an art gallery.
