This is a statue of Maxwell, the Cocker Spaniel, who made his owners happy from 1996 to 2008 when he passed and became a resident of this place.
In the 1904s and 1950s Cocker Spaniels were so popular, breeders over bred to have enough puppies to sell they almost destroyed the breed.
"Before the Golden Retriever and Labrador set the modern bar for the “great with kids” family companion, no breed was more beloved or popular than the Cocker Spaniel. Beautiful, sweet-natured and moderately sized, the Cocker’s popularity bounded happily forward after World War II with the two-time Westminster Best in Show winner Ch. My Own Brucie. At his best, the Cocker is a gentle, affectionate and healthy dog with soft, dark eyes." ~ Vet Street
