The various pumping stations were constructed by the Chaffey brothers as part of their vast irrigation scheme built after 1887.Several buildings at Psyche Bend have been demolished but the pump house remains intact with its engines and a new boiler house constructed close by.The pumphouse is of importance technologically due to the locally designed steam engine built in Britain to power the pumps, all of which equipment is still intact.
