In Providence, within Roger Williams Park, is the City of Providence Natural History Museum and Planetarium.

To get to the museum, from I-95, take the exit for Rhode Island Route 10, then go east and follow the signs to the park and entrance on the left about 3/4 mile from the exit. From the entrance, follow the main road to an intersection just past the entrance to the zoo. Take a right and follow the road to the museum on the left.

The planetarium is on the second floor of the museum. When you enter the museum, you will need to pay a small fee ($3 in 2017). There is one or two showings in a day (when I was there there was a 1:00 and 2:00 showing). Shows vary. The one we attended was a showing of the night sky for the fall, which included the stars in the fall sky, positions of the planets, and some other objects like the Andromeda Galaxy. Many of these objects had images also shown.

From the Web Site:

"The Cormack Planetarium

In 1993, the Cormack Planetarium completed its first major renovation since its construction in 1953. The Planetarium features a Zeiss star projector and an enlarged domed ceiling on which the stars are projected. In 2008, the planetarium upgraded its multi-media capabilities. In 2012, the planetarium received a full dome projection system."
