On the western edge of downtown Claresholm, C.J. Amundsen Park occupies a full city block across 49th Avenue from the new Louise Crummy Mckinney Centre, in which the public library is held. It was dedicated to Claude J. Amundsen in August of 1977. In the park are several picnic tables, two children's playground and walking paths. Grassed except for the playground area, which is covered in pea gravel, the park has many large, mature trees.

Claude Amundsen was a long time civil servant in Claresholm, serving as secretary-treasurer of the the town, the school division and the hospital for several decades, as well as magistrate from 1922 to 1948. The park was dedicated on August 13, 1977.

At the west end of the park are public washrooms, most recently renovated in 2006,, as well as a smaller playground, installed in 2008. The larger playground on the eastern edge was installed in 1995 by the Kinsmen of Claresholm. The 1995 playground equipment, primarily of treated wood, has recently been replaced by all new equipment. To the south of the playground is a large boulder bearing a Kinsmen plaque dedicating the playground to the citizens of Claresholm by the Kinsmen. The town is presently considering the addition of a stage and amphitheater to the park.

The dedication plaque for the park is mounted on a large boulder resting on a concrete pad near the southwestern corner of the park.

Amundsen Park has plenty of space with both shade and sunshine. Located across the street from the Public Library on the edge of downtown, this beautiful park is easy to find. It has walking paths, picnic tables and play structures. There is plenty of grassy space for playing or socializing.

Originally the Claresholm Outdoor pool was located in this park, with the last year of operation in 1994. The Kinsmen installed the main playground structure in 1995.
