This headstone is different to most, in that most of it is a rectangular prism of grey granite on a stepped granite base, but the top of it has four sharply peaked edges ('gabled' with the four sides), and stands about 2.0 metres high. The inscription is on the upper half, and reads:

In
LOVING MEMORY
--of--
our beloved
Son & Brother
JOHN CROSER
accidentally killed
29 June 1934
Aged 23 years
__________

In God's Care

Trove, the website that stores newspaper clippings, has one from year after John/Jack's death, with Memoriam notices give, as follows:

IN MEMORIAM
CROSER -- In loving memory of dear Jack,
who was accidentally killed 29th June 1934.
Not just today, but every day.
	In silence I remember.
--Inserted by his friend Dorothy.

CROSER-- In loving memory of our dear son
and brother John, who passed away on the 29th June,
(result of accident).
Suddenly called from us, that smiling face.
	Those pleasant, cheerful ways.
We have lost, but heaven has gained.
One of the best this world contained.
We can not read God's purpose,
But there will come a day
When God will make us understand
Why dear Jack was called away.
--Inserted by his loving parents and brothers.

CROSER-- In loving memory of our much loved nephew 'Jack',
who was killed in motor accident on the 29th June, 1934, aged 23 years.
Gone from this world so quickly,
Plucked like a flower in bloom,
So young, so bright, so loving.
Oh, why was he called so soon.
--Inserted by uncle and auntie. Rapid Bay

CROSER--In loving memory of our cousin Jack,
who was accidentally killed on the 29th June, 1934.
He had a nature you couldn't help loving.
    A heart that was purer than gold;
To those that knew and loved Jack,
His memory will never grow cold.
--Always remembered by his loving cousins at Aldinga.
